Homeward
Bound
"I'm pretty harmless." I say. She grins, clambers in,
and slings her bag into the back. The rain has soaked her clothes and her scarlet
velvet skirt has only a few dry patches. I reach behind me to pass her a towel
from the back seat. "Here, this should take the edge off."
She takes the towel, and with one hand, her neck arched, rubs her hair as if
she was in a shampoo commercial.
"Thanks. Jesus, I've been there ages. Doesn't anyone pick up hitchers anymore?"
Her voice has a slight Northern accent. "I'm Tamsin."
